Waddle, waddle

We just got back from a trip to Motherhood Maternity and IKEA. I had to return a shirt to Motherhood Maternity - my sweet mom picked it up for me while she was visiting relatives in Texas. The only problem was that she had already bought it for me 3 months prior along with a bunch of other maternity clothes when I first found out I was pregnant. It's a very cute shirt - and it definitely looks like something I'd wear so I'd say she did a great job picking it out - twice!

D & I are going to a wedding this Saturday and I needed something more formal to wear. I have a spring dress that my mom picked up for me (also while she was in Texas) but I think it's a little too springy & bright for an evening wedding. I can't wait to wear it to my baby shower, though! Anyway, I tried on a couple of dresses but I'm not feelin' the dress thing right now. I'm fat, white as a ghost, and can't reach my toenails to paint them. Why do all maternity dresses only hit right at the knee or higher? What about actually covering the chunky trunk legs & swollen ankles of a pregnant mama with a long dress? A novel concept!

I went with some black stretchy dress pants, a red stretchy formal tank and a couple of camis. I'll wear a black cardigan over the formal tank, hopefully...if my pre-pregnancy black cardigan still fits without looking ghetto fabulous.

Then we went to IKEA to check out a dresser that would also be a changing table. I really loved it but it's french white, not pure white, so it wouldn't go with one of my crib choices. Speaking of crib choices, here are the two we're deciding between. I can't decide if the off-white would really bug me or if I'd love it.

Just kidding - D & I just looked at both options and decided on one. Really, just now as I was sitting here writing this post we looked at both and made our informed decision. I'm actually excited to have a decision made. The crib is out of stock online but I'm going to call the store tomorrow to see if it's in. This is the off-white set that might just bug me. I guess if the lack of pure white drives me crazy I can always spray paint it! That was a joke.

In case you'd like a refresher on the bedding, here it is (but it's cuter in person)...
Hard to imagine it all together, isn't it? I promise to post pictures when the nursery is done. I guess to get it done we need to actually get started. We're hoping to get the ball rolling in the next couple of weeks.

My mattress is calling my name.

At least I got Tuesday's post in under the wire. Goodnight!

Great pix - great choice! The bedding will look perfect.

Pants are a good choice. All maternity skirts should be tried on and SAT IN prior to wearing publicly. I wore a knee length skirt to my baby shower, but couldn't put my knees together upon sitting down :(

W-O-W. I am so in love with that crib and dresser! And the bedding, of course, but I've already said that ;). You have really good taste. I like the "off-white" better than the white white. It's cozier.

I've had much better luck finding modest maternity clothes online. Usually from religious work at home moms who hand make them (or have a cottage business that does). Most of the stuff in the stores, as you found, just isn't modest. It's a real pain. It's even worse when looking for Spring/Summer stuff rather than Winter. Will was a winter baby so it was easier.

LOVE the crib/dresser. It's so fun to hear about you doing a nursery. This baby gets a corner in our room! LOL!

I think pants are the way to go! I imagine I'll be spending the majority of my summer in pants as well, as shaving is becoming a little difficult. Have fun at the wedding!

I love the crib and dresser/changer. They will look fabulous with the bedding!!!

I actually loved wearing skirts when I was pregnant - I thought they were more comfortable for some reason. And what a beautiful crib and dresser!
