Vintage Maps

AAAHHH!
I can't believe I actually won something! Thank you, Deborah - I'm so excited!

Just had to get that off my chest, thanks.

I can't believe it's Thursday again already! Time to share my maps!

I found these beauties at the Seattle Antique Market. You know, the place I said really had nothing to offer? That's the one. I just loved the look of these!
I think I'm going to have to frame them. When I do, I might just make a color photocopy of every single side and try to capture everything on the map in one frame. It has too many neat parts to just showcase one aspect! I love the World's Fair advertisement on this map. The World's Fair came to Seattle in 1962 so this map is probably from the early 1960s or late 1950s.

The second map that you see looks to be the exact same type of map only published in a different year. I'm not sure what year, but if I look up the name of the Governor whose signature is printed on the map, it was sometime between 1965 to 1977. Pretty big range of dates! Oddly enough, they don't list a date on the map. You'd think that would be a crucial piece of information for a map, but maybe they assumed people would recognize the map covers!

That's really all I have to say about maps :) I love them and can't wait to frame them.

Don't forget about my FREE offer...

For a limited time, I'll offer my graphic design services to you for free (for a blog header or logo) in exchange for a mention on your blog. Here is what I'm offering:

3 different designs for your header based on what you tell me that you want
• Once a design is chosen, I will give you 2 more proofs if you want changes made
The header is yours to use as you wish, all I ask is for a mention of my work on your blog.
I do have a business license and I have worked on designing websites/flyers/business cards/etc. professionally in the past. I'm looking to get back into it now!

Feel free to tell your readers about this "giveaway" (please do!).

I will offer this until November 1st. It's first come, first served. I'll work on 3 at a time (I already have two interested, but am happy to take on as many as ask!) so you may have to wait if you "apply" late.

I love to design, so put me to work! I can send you a link where I posted pictures of some of my work if you're interested. If you'd like to email me about this, my email address is baldwinbungalow@gmail.com.

Happy Thursday!

I wonder where those maps led the people who owned them? Did the man map out the trip or was his wife navigating from the passenger seat? Vintage things always get me thinking about their previous owners..

Seattle is my favorite city to visit! I'm so excited that my little sister just moved to the Queen Anne district. Now I have an excuse to visit often. :)

Congratulations on the win and how curious that you have old maps..
What a very unique and beautiful collection. I agree with "weeksie", I always give lives to vintage items and wonder how they ended up where they are.

Juuuust when you think you've labeled a place a dud for finding goodies, you go and find some treasure. These are great! And you know I have a soft spot for all things Seattle.

SWEET deal - thanks for the offer you mentioned on my blog the other day too. I totally want to take you up on this, I just need to think about what it is that I want. I'll be in touch soon!

OH MY WORD!!! I'm DYING for you to design my blog for me. I have zero time with these three kiddos but I want it to look really cute like yours =). I also need help coming up with a good name. I know I can't change my url, but I would still like to change the name. Things have been really hectic around here lately, and I've actually had my blog on "auto-pilot", where I do a bunch of posts one day then have them post all throughout the week, so I just haven't been on much lately. I'll give you my email privately on pleo...
