The Name!

I'm interrupting my regularly scheduled blog post to bring you the name of our child...finally decided!

As I've told you, D wanted to get through the entire baby name book before we made any decisions on a name. Tonight we had his family over for movie night and at the end he gave me a wrapped gift. I was confused because it wasn't my birthday or anything! Then he got out the video camera and I became really suspicious.

Here is the video...I'm not talking on it because I'm too choked up. The reason I'm so choked up is because he had wrapped the baby name book that he's been looking through and taped to the book is a note from him that says "Our baby's name is..." and it was the name I had wanted all along. Apparently it grew on him over time and now he really likes the name! I sobbed. I'm so relieved that she finally has a name!

I was going to post the video but it isn't working on here for some reason.

Our baby girl's name is...

Slow News Day

So, the reason I haven't posted pictures of the bathroom is because I forgot about an over-the-toilet cabinet we bought that D still needs to mount. He's going to do that this weekend and then the bathroom will be semi-complete - at least ready for pictures! I really love it. It's SUCH an improvement over what was there before.

I love my laundry room, too, although it's not even close to completion. D wants to put in new floors (NOT tile!) and probably more countertop space for me which I'm really excited about. Our laundry room is rather large and will act as a sort of mud room, too.

We got 3" of snow in the Renton highlands last night and into this morning. My carpool partner and I decided to wait until about 8:15 to try to get in. Mostly because traffic was horrendous early in the morning and it's just not worth the mess. D went in with his carpool partner at 6:30 and it took him twice the amount of time that it usually does to get to work.

The snow is probably gone now - it's beautiful and sunny outside.

I know I have readers that read and don't comment (even though I wish you would!), but for those of you who do comment (or those of you who are reformed lurkers and wish to start commenting) ....

Ask me anything. I promise to answer it (unless I don't want to).

Really, that's all I've got on this slow news day :)

Baby Girl - 21w4d

Baby trumps bathroom. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have bathroom photos to share with you. Today, it's about the kid.

We had another ultrasound last night because at our last one, Baby Girl wasn't giving us a profile shot and didn't give the tech a great look at the heart. Baby is beautiful and healthy and I'm even more excited to meet her now than I ever have been, if that's possible!

I know these photos mean more to me than they do to you, but I appreciate you indulging me and letting me post them anyway. She still doesn't have a name but we're working on it. We have 2 names in the running but D wants to read every page of the "girl" section of the baby name book before he'll decide anything. I feel like I've already told you all of this so I'm going to move on.

Here's Baby's profile - sternum is visible

Here's another profile shot - you can see her ribcage.

She has my nose!

Cute little foot.

She's turned a little bit away from us - you can kind of see the outline of her ear.

Really neat shot of the bones in her leg and foot

She's got her leg above her head and she's grabbing her heel.

Kinda creepy, kinda cute. She's facing us - you can see her eyes and nose...notice the chubby cheek. I love that! Fatten up, little one!

So, there she is. I spared you the shot that confirmed that she is indeed a girl. You're welcome.

After the ultrasound I had my prenatal appointment. At my last prenatal appointment, my doctor told me to start eating more snacks and not to only eat the main 3 meals. She said I hadn't gained weight since I got pregnant and she'd like for me to. After they weighed me, I walked in the room where D was sitting and I said "I gained...a lot". So when the doctor walked in, D told her "Well, she did well on the assignment you gave her. She gained weight." The doctor looked at my chart and said "My goodness! You did gain weight! You're like an overachiever!" Yeah, I gained 8 lbs in one month. AAAHHH! I'm not too worried about it - I'm glad the baby is healthy. I am trying to eat better, though.

I got the drink for my glucose screening at the end of March. I had a colonoscopy about a year and a half ago due to a lot of intestinal problems I was having and they made me drink this stuff called Golightly (at least that's what it sounds like - not sure how it's spelled) as a laxative the night before. I had about a gallon of this stuff to drink and it was the most disgusting thing I've ever put in my mouth in my life. I will never drink that stuff again - ever. Anyway, my doctor said this glucose stuff tastes kind of like that so you can imagine how excited I am to drink it.

Enough from me. Have a great Tuesday!

Girls Weekend!

I spent 0 time on the computer from Thursday evening until now. It's taken a while to catch up but I finally see the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel!

We had a great time with Texas girls Carol & Jen this weekend. My sister, Carrie, and friend, Lori, got in on Thursday just as I was being dropped off by my carpool partner - around 4:30. The Texas girls arrived a little after 7pm - just in time for chili.

On Friday, we went to Leavenworth which is a Bavarian themed town in the mountains. On Saturday, we went to Pike Place Market and then Carrie,Lori & I went up to Lynnwood so Lori could have lunch with her brother who lives up this way. Carrie and I used that time to have lunch, frozen yogurt, then browse Babies R Us. Carol & Jen, meanwhile, had lunch with Carol's cousin's family then went to see Snoqualmie Falls.

D's brother-in-law, Jake, came over on Saturday morning to help David quickly install the sink and toilet in the remodeled bathroom before they went snowshoeing. They didn't make it snowshoeing. Jake accidentally drilled a hole through a water pipe. It's a long story, but he did everything right (he's a professional handyman!) but the way our plumbing is done in the house is really weird and not "normal". So, they had to cut a hole in the wall that D had just sheetrocked, textured, and painted. Everything was wet. It took them 8 hours and 5 trips to the home improvement store to finally get the problem fixed. The sink is installed over the hole that D will eventually patch up again.

Carol & Jen made us a really yummy enchilada dinner on Saturday night which was complicated by not having running water the first part of their preparations due to the plumbing mess downstairs. Carol, the crazy girl, ran next door to the neighbors and used their water hose to rinse the veggies :)

I didn't get as many pictures as I would have liked. The guy who supposedly took our picture at Leavenworth didn't push the button on my camera so I don't think we have any pictures of all of us together :( But I know the other girls have some pictures to share so I'll let them. I just have a few from Leavenworth that I'll post.

Carol & Jen left this morning to do a little more sightseeing before their flight (they squeezed a LOT into this weekend which I'm SO glad for!). They take off around 11:30PST so say a prayer that they make it home safely!

We have another ultrasound today and hopefully we'll get a shot of baby girl's profile that I can post for you.

Tomorrow I hope to post pictures of our remodeled bathroom.

This weekend the Contorted Filbert in our front yard will be gone forever! I will document and post next Monday, for sure!

Taking a Break

There's a list of things I've done tonight that fall under the category of "Don't do that, Stupid", but for fear of my self-esteem taking a beating, I will resist posting the list. I actually care what you people think.

Is it possible not to love Keith Urban? Just wondering.

I plan to call Pottery Barn and straighten the whole mobile incident out. Unfortunately, while attempting to put together "my case" today, I realized that I cannot return the mobile because it was a final sale. Regardless, they should know how misleading that particular item photo was for me...and maybe for others, too. I'll probably cut the birds off the mobile, find some nests at a craft store, and go to work. We'll see.

I got baby girl's bedding today. It's even cuter in person than online...I really, really love it.

I think we have Baby's name narrowed down. If it were up to D, we would have already named her because he admittedly only likes one of the names. However, there is a name I absolutely love that I'm having a hard time giving up without a long, drawn out fight. Okay, not a fight...just a "I'm hoping to wear my husband down". Honestly, I've asked SEVERAL people what they think of the name that I love and I have never met anyone who didn't love it...oh, wait, yes I have - MY HUSBAND! Really...he's the only one.

I do like the other name that we both actually like but I'm having a HARD time letting go of this other name. Any suggestions? I mean I've loved this name for years...and now I have a child on which to bestow this adorable name and my husband doesn't like it.

Anyway, this was probably a longer break than I should have taken. Still lots to do.

I'm anticipating a very fun weekend! I'll post pictures next week! Have a good one!

Oh, and how could I forget?

GRIFFEY IS BACK to the Mariners!!!!
This issue is from "the good old days" when he played for the Mariners.

Pottery Barn Kids MESSED UP

Someone please tell me how Pottery Barn Kids got this so messed up.

This first picture is what I wanted to purchase. Notice how cute the birds nest is and the twine that hangs from the ceiling.

This is what I got. Notice the metal mobile, no nest, no twine, and a bunch of small birds instead of the two cute ones in their nest.
Seriously!? Someone explain this to me. Am I way off? There were no more pictures of the mobile on their site other than what I showed you.

I'm upset. Maybe it's a stupid thing to be upset about but I'm hormonal and this makes me mad. I was really looking forward to the cute mobile that they advertised on their site.

Just Saying...

So NOT fair...
They finally open a Chick-Fil-A in Washington state and it's 88 miles away!

Hope you all had a great Valentine's Day. We got our new mattress today and my husband is like a little kid on Christmas. He keeps saying "It's just so big".

D grilled steaks for us and I made asparagus, mashed potatoes, and crescent rolls. My stomach hasn't been feeling that great but maybe the baby was just hungry because I'm feeling a little better now. Dessert is Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake bars.

D & I have Monday off so we're taking Tess to the dog groomers and then possibly to Babies R Us to look at baby stuff and maybe register a little.

Have a wonderful weekend!
